Apple has upgraded the graphics drivers in 10.5 but not 104, but hopefully 10.6 (Snow Leopard) will be out by then so you could skip 10.5.

The beta Premium graphics client will automatically connect to the test server Singularity. did you rename the Classic install? are you using a doc alias pointed to the classic client? if so make sue you are launching the correct client.
